The Village ~ Sticklepath

Sticklepath Village

The small village of Sticklepath lies on the northern fringes of Dartmoor National Park within the county of Devon beside the river Taw. The name ‘Sticklepath’ is derived from the Saxon ‘staecle’, meaning 'Steep'. The village has some beautiful walks with the Tarka Trail running through. It is also home to the Finch Foundry, a 19th century working museum, which is now keeping the waterwheels and hammers moving after industrial work came to a halt in 1960. There is a cafe at the foundry.

Within the Village there are two excellent, friendly Pubs, the Devonshire Arms that serves light snacks and the Taw River Inn serving full meals. The General Stores is small but offers all the basics including newspapers.

Apart from the natural beauty of Dartmoor, there are many places of interest and things to do within striking distance of Sticklepath (click here for details).
